Connecting with California’s Agricultural Community
Connecting Communities and Supporting Agriculture
It’s been an eventful summer for California AgrAbility! From the orchards of the Sacramento Delta to the California State Fair, our team has been out in the community connecting with farmers, workers, families, and agricultural organizations across the state.
Throughout the Summer we shared resources, sparked conversations, and connected members of the agricultural community with information and services that support safer, healthier, and more accessible agricultural work.
Take a look at a couple of our summer outreach highlights and see what’s ahead this fall!
Sacramento Delta Pear Harvest
This summer, California AgrAbility spent time in the Sacramento Delta connecting with agricultural workers during pear harvest. Our team visited five farms, sharing resources focused on back health and mental health to support workers during a demanding and physically challenging season.
With extreme temperatures prompting some crews to begin work as early as 5:00 a.m., these visits provided an important opportunity to talk with workers about health, safety, and well-being on the job.
Ag Day at the California State Fair
Later in the season we joined fellow agricultural organizations at Ag Day during the California State Fair to celebrate California agriculture and connect with fairgoers from across the state.
During the event, we spoke with more than 300 attendees, sharing information on arthritis and gardening, farm safety, accessibility, and AgrAbility services. It was a great day of connecting with the community and highlighting resources that can help make agricultural work safer and more accessible.
