What is CalAgrAbility?

About Us

The California AgrAbility Project, or CalAgrAbility, is a non-profit partnership of the University of California Farm Safety Center (UC Davis Extension) and Arthritis Foundation Superior California. Together, we are committed to helping farmers, farm workers and ranchers in California who face physical obstacles to continue their work in agriculture. Permanent physical challenges may take many forms, from vision and hearing loss ("tractor ear") to arthritis, back injuries, or diabetes, or perhaps even more serious disabilities such as paralysis or amputations caused by farm or other injury accidents. Whatever the difficulty facing California's farmers and workers, at CalAgrAbility we provide the support to help people determine and meet their goals. Often times, we and our nationwide network of service agencies have found, practical solutions may be closer than you might think.

Our staff is a phone call or e-mail away from providing a consultation and often a work or home visit to help our clients begin the process of taking back control of their lives and professional careers. As a non-profit organization sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture, all of our advice and assistance is free.

It should be said that we do not usually provide our clients with goods or financial support. However, our staff will explore and assist with every possible option to make sure our clients receive all of the rights and services they deserve. Many times people are unaware of services, adaptive technologies, or other support that they may be entitled to or from which they would benefit greatly.

If you or a friend, family member, or co-worker could use some help in deciding whether CalAgrAbility could be of service, please consider contacting us. One of our staff members will be with you right away.
